Nebraska School Activities Association Premier Corporate Partner: U.S. Bank

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) Board of Control began a corporate partnership with U.S. Bank in June 1997, beginning with the September 1, 1997 school year and continuing since then.

Dr. Jim Tenopir, Executive Director of the NSAA: "The partnership helps to ensure that students in NSAA-sponsored programs will have a full range of opportunities in athletics and fine arts activities."

"Our partnership with the NSAA is an opportunity for U.S. Bank to focus on education and community involvement in Nebraska," said Steve Erwin, Regional President, U.S. Bank. "Our 57 U.S. Bank offices across the state are committed to supporting programs and activities that benefit young people."

Many state activity associations have established corporate partnership programs to help maintain current levels of their programs and activities. This partnership helps the NSAA maintain and strengthen their extracurricular programs without incurring additional burdensome costs. This alliance is a unique opportunity for U.S. Bank and the NSAA to merge their interests in both education and community involvement. In addition, the company sponsors four state high school associations that run sports and fine arts tournaments for more than 500,000 students per year.

The partnership does not involve product endorsements by participants or coaches.

The NSAA is a non-profit corporation of 312 high schools whose mission is to administer a statewide program of competitive athletic and fine arts programs. Each year, more than 120,000 students participate in 24 activities of the NSAA.

U.S. Bank is the nation's 6th largest financial services holding company with headquarters in Minneapolis. Assets of the company total $207 billion. U.S. Bank has 57 banking offices located throughout Nebraska, that provide retail and community banking, commercial banking and trust and investment services to individuals and/or institutions. There are more than 150 ATMs in the state.

Comments from Dr. Jim Tenopir, NSAA Executive Director:

The Nebraska School Activities Association Board of Control made a very positive decision for our membership in forming a corporate partnership with U.S. Bank Nebraska.

This partnership provides the Association additional expertise and resources for promoting the programs presently offered by the Association. It also provides revenue for the development of new programs without requiring additional funds from our member schools.

We formed the partnership with U.S. Bank because the corporation met the criteria we thought was essential. They have a history of supporting youth and education. They are a stable well-respected business with statewide exposure. Their staff has experience in working with activities associations in other states. U.S. Bank did not request a change in format of any program so as to benefit the Corporation. We continue to maintain control of all Association activities. As the association’s exclusive partner, U.S. Bank is permitted to promote the relationship through many traditional ways, including the following:

  • Signs and banners at event sites;
  • Recognition through public address announcements and scoreboard mentions;
  • Advertising space in various events programs;
  • Logo on souvenir shirts, caps, etc., at state tournaments;
  • Co-sponsorship of athlete and student recognition programs and programs to prepare students for life outside the classroom.

Our relationship with U.S. Bank always has the benefits of those who participate in athletics and fine arts activities in mind. Together, we are eager to maintain and develop our programs. We want to do that without further financially burdening our member schools.

We are proud to call U.S. Bank Nebraska our premier partner. We look to the future with great anticipation. The future we see is one that will benefit all students who participate and all individuals who enjoy watching talented students compete.
