LINCOLN – The NSAA is pleased to announce Alexis Hagstrom, a Junior from Ord High School as the winning designer of the Nebraska School Activities Association’s (NSAA) “Head, Heart & Heat” logo contest! The NSAA is currently working to create a statewide safety and risk minimization campaign surrounding Concussions, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Acclimatization, Hydration and other areas of importance.
The NSAA office reached out to member high school students for creative assistance in designing a campaign logo. Artwork was evaluated for creativity, visibility, and integration of major campaign components. Out of almost 100 designs, Alexis’ logo was chosen as the unanimous winner. The logo will be utilized in all “Head, Heart & Heat” promotions. She will also receive a $500 talent fee.
“The “Head, Heart & Heat” program is the NSAA’s grass roots initiative that will foster awareness and education across our membership and fan base. We have a duty to promote the highest standard of care for our students. Ms. Hagstrom’s logo will assist in the branding of this campaign,” said Rhonda Blanford-Green, NSAA Executive Director.
This contest hit especially close to home for Alexis Hagstrom, as she incurred a concussion her sophomore year at Ord High School while participating in volleyball. “While diving for a ball, I hit my chin on the gym floor which resulted in a concussion. I had to sit out of athletics for a month and a half. Winning this contest means a lot as this is something I experienced, and this program will be bigger than me. I believe this campaign will be vitally helpful to all student athletes of Nebraska,” said Alexis Hagstrom.
Ord High School Principal, Mark Hagge said, “We greatly appreciate the NSAA for providing this opportunity to feature young people and their creative talents. Alexis is an extraordinary young lady that has continually represented our school community with honor and dignity. After her (Alexis) concussion, some doors did close, but others opened. Alexis has been able to participate and explore her talents in NSAA fine arts.”
Congratulations Alexis Hagstrom!
