The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is proud to announce Hastings High School as the Pump & Pantry School Spirit Award recipient for the month of November.
The School Spirit Award Program features NSAA member schools sharing photos of their students and fans emphasizing positive support and excitement at NSAA events via social media. Winning photos are selected monthly and may be featured throughout the year on the NSAA website, additional publications and at NSAA State Championships. As the November honoree, Hastings High School will also receive a $250 gas card provided by Pump & Pantry to support team and fan travel.
The Hastings photo was taken at a volleyball competition by the Hastings Tiger Ambush. This group was formed this year to promote student involvement and excitement at school competitions. “The Ambush has been a great addition to our activities this year. These students are extremely committed to showing their school spirit and supporting all of our activities. They’ve had a lot of fun coming up with creative ideas to generate attendance”, said Tracy Douglas, Hastings High School Activity Director.
This particular event held personal meaning for Douglas as she is a two-time breast cancer survivor. The week this photo was taken, Hastings High School ran their 5th annual fundraiser for the Side-Out Foundation which benefits breast cancer awareness and research.
The School Spirit Award program is becoming a part of NSAA activities with more than sixty (60) NSAA member schools participating to date. Follow @nsaahome #schoolspirit, to see the excitement and spirit across Nebraska!
