Lincoln Southwest High School Named December Pump & Pantry School Spirit Award Winner
LINCOLN – The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is proud to announce Lincoln Southwest High School as the Pump & Pantry School Spirit Award recipient for the month of December and the fourth winner of the 2015-2016 school year.
The School Spirit Award program features NSAA member schools sharing photos of their students and fans emphasizing positive support and excitement at NSAA events via social media. Winning photos are selected monthly and may be featured throughout the year on the NSAA website, additional publications and at NSAA State Championships. As the December honoree, Lincoln Southwest High School will also receive a $250 gas card provided by Pump & Pantry to support team and fan travel.
“The LSW Student Fan Federation is a club organized by our students. They do a great job of organizing unique ways to support LSW activities and also the local community,” said Kim Carson, Lincoln Southwest Assistant Activities Director.
The winning photo was taken at a football game in which the LSW Fan Federation had a pajama theme encouraging students to bring stuffed animals. Over 400 stuffed animals were donated to a local church to benefit children in need.
LSW Senior and Fan Federation Leader, Logan Foster said, “We have a great rivalry with Lincoln Southeast and generally a good turnout. To promote the event and to encourage student attendance, we came up with the pajama and stuffed animal theme. It was also a way for us to give back to the community. Our Fan Federation meets every two weeks with representatives from each grade level. We are committed to supporting our school and our activities.”
The 2015-2016 school year marks the second year of the Pump & Pantry School Spirit Award program and has included over 100 NSAA member schools participating to date.
